Wedding Bears Amigurumi

Recently, our brother, the website manager/promoter of Cute Amigurumi, recently got married…and of course we couldn’t help but make some wedding bear amigurumi for his wedding!!

It was a beautiful and unique wedding with a theme, inspired by the opening scene of the movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” where Indy wears a white tux and a red carnation in his pocket, and Willie comes out as a singer in a nightclub dressed in a qipao (Chinese traditional dress).  My brother even encouraged all the lady guests to wear qipao and all the gentlemen to wear bowties.  So, that explains the garb our wedding bears amigurumi have haha!

So let’s start off looking at the bride wedding bear amigurumi (of course, because weddings are all about the bride, duh!).  We used a special fuzzier yarn from Joann called “Beautiful Sensations”, I think, that is super soft and hides the stitches well because of all the hair on the yarn.  It also made the stitches harder to see, but once you’ve crocheted enough to watch TV while crocheting with no problem, this is actually a cinch!  And seriously, even if you miscount and are off a stitch or two, who can tell anyways. :P

What we did to make this bride wedding bear amigurumi match the theme of our brother’s wedding was give it a qipao belly, rather than the usual felt belly piece.  My mom used to sew qipao tops for us when we were younger, and you can even see some of her finished products at her blog here!  We had lots of qipao cloths to choose from, but this one had a pattern that matched our sister-in-law’s qipao very closely so we chose this one.  My sewing, felt-cutting, stripes subcontractor sister then went about her usual task of doing menial, tedious duties by painstakingly gluing rhinestones along the edge of the belly piece.  She also cut out and sewed together a veil, and proceeded to bling it up too!

She covered the entire veil.  Very nice, yes, I agree.  And then my mom did some Chinese knotting and made this super cute adornment to add to the top of the veil!

You can even flip up the veil and it looks super glamorous too!

You can take the veil off too!  We’re getting real fancy here.  And yes, this bride wedding bear amigurumi wears earrings!

Alright alright, let’s give the groom wedding bear amigurumi some spotlight.  Isn’t he sooo handsome?!  My sister first cut out felt pieces to make up the tux part, and then she cut up some white satin ribbon to cover the felt, so that the tux could have a nice sheen to it  She added a black bowtie, some blingy buttons (can’t be outdone by the super blingy bride wedding bear amigurumi, right?!) and finished it off with a small red polymer clay rose in its pocket.

Oh!  Here’s the groom wedding bear amigurumi standing at the altar, with the officiant, little gold Buddha figurine!  He’s nervous, but definitely very excited.

This is what the bug sitting on the cherry blossom branch sees at people’s wedding ceremonies.  So romantic! <3  Makes me want to become a bug…almost.

Yay!  They’re married, and now called Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Bears Amigurumi!  Look at the groom wedding bear amigurumi leading his bride away from the altar like he owns the world now.  But who can blame him?  And now time for some glamour shots!

Those origami flower bouquets were my brother’s actual centerpieces at his wedding.  We all pitched in to fold some of them, and my sister, being the neat freak that she is, was able to arrange them so professionally and aesthetically into an awesome-looking bouquet.  Those bouquets were definitely a nice touch to the wedding.  Sorry for all the pictures btw, but as is customary of any wedding, there has to be a ton of pictures!!  It’s a once in a lifetime thing after all.

Instead of riding away on a carriage, these wedding bears amigurumi will just sit snugly in this luscious basket of silk roses.  Congrats to my brother, the awesome website manager/promoter, and my sister-in-law!  I know this blog wouldn’t even exist without all your dedication and help.  I’m sorry for not posting as often as I should, but I just want you to know I really appreciate everything you’ve put into this blog for me.  I never would have thought that our facebook fanpage could ever reach 1,000 fans, but we have (and btw, there will be a special promotion for this awesome milestone so please keep posted)!  There’s no way I could’ve done this without you.  Wishing you both, and any other newlywed couples out there during this wedding season, the best things in life filled with lots of love and happiness!! :D
